On Christmas Eve, just before night fall, a reporter from Boxun found a petitioner who had died at the corner of number 4 Dongzhuang block, Beijing, near north station. Far from home, he was in Beijing during the bitterly cold winter, along with thousands of other petitioners, to appeal for the justice that they could not get in their home towns, because of widespread Communist Party corruption.
The temperature had dropped to 14 degree centigrade. Not far from here, many other petitioners were busy reinforcing their shelters, they did not notice their fellow petitioner.
Not far from the South Station, there is another world, with the shining atmosphere of Christmas throughout the streets. A fancy seafood hotel, has a Christmas Eve special price for dinner at 2880 yuan per head, with no limit on the amount of food consumed. Who knows there might be people dying of over eating.
The Boxun reporter said that there will be more petitioners dying in this extremely cold Beijing winter.
