News:The explosion in a firework factory in Heilongjiang killed 13 people

At around 9:40 AM on August 16, 2010, a fireworks factory in Wumahe District in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province had an explosion. One could feel the shock in the downtown area twenty kilometers away. According to Xinhua Net, so far thirteen people are dead and 148 injured.

Mr. Lin, whose work unit is six kilometers away from the explosion site, told Northeast Net reporter that he heard a muffled explosion at around 9:45 AM. Then a second explosion shook the office building he was in. The fluorescent lights in the building were swaying under the shock. He could see from the window a white “Mushroom cloud” rising in the direction of the fireworks factory.
When his colleagues rushed downstairs for safety, they heard a third explosion, which shattered the windows. Then there came a fourth explosion. Apart from the astonishing sound of the explosion, there were constant sounds of fireworks, which lasted between 30 and 40 minutes.
Mr. Lin’s son called him from his home in the downtown area, which is twenty kilometers away, and told his father that he definitely felt the quaking from within his residential building.
All the way until 11:30 AM, people could still hear the sound of explosions.
